COVID GUIDANCE

  • Masks are optional (except for children’s classroom leaders)

  • Please get vaccinated.

    • All staff, choir members, and children’s workers are fully vaccinated.

  • Please check-in.

    • Sign the paper registry in the narthex

Checking-in is not only for contact tracing, but also is a way for our pastoral staff to reach out to guests and FBC family.

A message from Pastor Julie:

Since the pandemic began in 2020, FBC’s reopening team and staff have made decisions about COVID safety utilizing the guidance of public health experts and local government regulations. Our priority has been ensuring the health and safety of our community and showing hospitality to our neighbors.

COVID has not gone away, but public health experts and leaders agree we are now in a different stage of this public health crisis and a new phase regarding health and safety precautions.

CDC has defined COVID-19 community levels as low, medium, and high, based on hospital and community case statistics. The COVID-19 community level in the entire DC region is low, which means there is limited impact on the healthcare system and low amounts of severe disease in the community. According to CDC guidance, universal indoor masking is not needed at this level.

As a result, masks are optional in FBC gatherings including worship services, group gatherings, classes, and other activities. (The one exception is children’s teachers and workers, who will continue masking while caring for children.) We will revisit this protocol should covid numbers rise again in the DMV.

In the spirit of Christian community, people's choices about masking and social distancing will be respected.  Fortunately, the size of our sanctuary and abundance of small group space make it possible to maintain a comfortable distance if desired.

Everyone should remain up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters. If you experience COVID-19 symptoms, receive a positive test, or are exposed to someone with COVID-19, please stay home (and wear a mask when in public).

This beloved community has been a model of compassion and resilience over the last two years. Please continue caring for one another with that same measure of devotion.

In the great Love,

Pastor Julie
