Nursery at FBCDC
At First Baptist DC, we believe that a child's first experience of church matters. Long before they can understand a sermon or sing a hymn, infants and toddlers are already learning what the world is like — whether it is safe, whether they are held, whether the people around them can be trusted.
Our nursery is our way of answering those questions before they can even be asked. We want the very youngest members of our community to know — in their bodies, in their earliest memories — that church is a place where they are safe, seen, and deeply loved.
— Mark 10:14 | "Let the children come to me; do not stop them."

Our Approach
Thoughtful, professional care
We take the care of your child seriously. Our nursery is staffed by trained childcare professionals who bring not only credentials and experience, but genuine warmth and love for the children entrusted to them. We follow clear safety and communication protocols, and we are committed to keeping parents informed and at ease throughout the morning.
Our caregivers create gentle, engaging routines built around music, storytelling, and play — experiences that nurture healthy development while surrounding your child with the sounds and rhythms of a loving community of faith.

For Families
What to expect when you arrive
We want drop-off to feel easy and unhurried. When you arrive, a staff member will welcome your child, collect any necessary items (bottles, comfort objects, diapers), and note any instructions you'd like to share. We use a simple check-in process to ensure your child's safety throughout the morning.
Parents are never far away. If your child needs you, we will find you promptly. We want you to feel free to worship with confidence, knowing your little one is in good hands.
First time? Come a few minutes early and introduce yourself. We love meeting new families, and we'll take whatever time you need to feel comfortable before you head into worship.
Safety
Your child's safety is our priority
Every staff member and regular nursery volunteer has completed a background check and received training in our child safety policies. We follow safe-church practices in all of our ministry spaces, and our nursery is no exception. We are committed to maintaining an environment where every child is protected, respected, and cared for with the highest standards of integrity.
Detailed information about our child safety policies is available upon request through the church office.
