Celebrating Black Composers Concert! Sunday, March 11 at 4 pm

On March 11 at 4 pm, FBC will host a free concert Celebrating Black Composers in Arts and Spirituals.  Performers include Samantha McElhaney (Soprano), Bridgette Cooper (Mezzo-Soprano), Kevin Thompson (Bass) and Issachah Savage (Tenor) and more.  Click here to view the flyer.  All are welcome!

Make Your Reservation for FBC's 210th Year Anniversary Dinner! March 4th

On Sunday, March 4, join us for worship and the celebration dinner following worship. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Menu: Pork loin, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, and cake.

The 210th Anniversary is the celebration of the founding of The First Baptist Church. We will close out the first decade of the third century and begin the second decade. Praise be to God!

 

Pastoral Leadership, FBC Officers, Ministry & Committee Leaders Celebration! Sunday, February 19th

Sunday, February 19th has been designated as a day of Leadership Celebration for our Pastors, FBC Officers, Church Council, ministries and standing committees at FBC. The celebration will begin during the 11 am service in the Sanctuary and continue with a celebratory buffet dinner in the Fellowship Hall.

Benefit Performance: "The Wizard of Oz" on April 17th

 

Please help to support the National Center for Children and Families (NCCF) while enjoying a wonderful dinner and performance of the musical at Toby's Dinner Theatre of Columbis.  Tickets, including dinner, show and gratuity are $48 per person ($10 tax deductible).  The NCCF (formerly Baptist Home for Children) is a private, non-profit agency serving the national capital area.  The residential programs serve homeless families, victims of domestic violence and vulnerable adolescents.

For tickets or donations, please call either of our church’s representatives, Bonnie Jorgensen (301-649-4804) or Liz Porter (301-438-7678).  Sponsorships are also being accepted for youth to attend GAP.  Reservations are requested by March 17.

February Food Drive

The FBC Women's Society will be collecting non-perishable items for donation to the Johenning Baptist Community Center during the month of February.  The items will be used by the center to restock their food pantry.  Donated items can be placed in the Women's Society grocery cart located in the 17th Street lobby on Sunday mornings.

Life Line Screening on February 28th

Life Line Screening will be at FBC on Tuesday, February 28th in the Fellowship Hall to provide non-invasive, completely painless screenings using ultrasound technology.

  Information on Possible Snow Closings

Please keep this information handy in case of inclement weather. First Baptist is registered with three media entities which will announce our closings. They are: WTTG-TV (Ch. 5) WUSA-TV (Ch. 9) WTOP Radio (103.5 FM, 103.9 FM, 107.7 FM, and wtop.com). The message on our main phone line (202-387-2206) will also be updated with any information about closings, as well as the church's website. The CDC follows the DC Public School's closing schedule.
